Catching up …

Published by at 6:20 pm under Personal

Jon and I went to see Cars Friday night after a delicious supper at El Guadalupe’s with Marni. If you haven’t yet seen Cars, by all means, stop what you’re doing and go. If you’re one of those folks prone to snorting then I suggest you take a pillow with you.

Yana called last night to inform me that her brother-in-law passed away yesterday. He went as peacefully as one in his situation can. His suffering wasn’t as long as it could have been. For those inclined to do so, please continue sending prayers and thoughts of strength to his widow, step-daughter and the rest of the family. They’re doing okay at the moment, but I’m sure a few bumpy roads still await them up ahead.

Doug, Tara, Elliott, Mikaela and I went to see that last week and I agree. It’s hilarious! Even Mikaela the preteen wonder who’s starting to worry about being “cool” howled with laughter and came out saying that’s the best movie she’s seen since the last Harry Potter installment.

    :)

I never heard of the Car. I guess Bishop, California never gets the top shows.

Bishop, Ca! It seems I should know your name … writers’ group perhaps? Pictures of a novel or a screenplay flash through my mind, all fuzzy and unclear; I’ve no idea if they’re rogue memories or they’re honestly tied to you. My memory needs jogging … or maybe some break-dancing.

I suppose telling you to try Ridgecrest is out of the question! Cars is hilarious, but maybe not so hilarious as to warrant a 2 hour drive. :P

I apologize, Diann. When I sent the comment in I never thought about how long ago it was since we were in Eva’s writing group. There is no reason for you to remember me. Last Monday I went to a writer group meeting and saw Rick Gelvin for the first time in a long time. He reminded me of the old days and you. I’ve been writing a series of stories about a character named “Archie Cleebo” for a magazine based in Spokane, Wa. And trying my hand at poetry. How about you? Are you still writing? And do I see some beautiful children? Bill Robinson

No children, unless you’re counting our dogs. ;) I’m still writing, but I haven’t submitted anything since … mmm October of 2000 (which, by the way, is dumb), and haven’t published anything since 1998. I do have a completed novel, thanks to last year’s NaNoWriMo, and I’m polishing it for submission. The first half needs some serious cosmetic help but I believe the second half is salvageable.

I’ll email you directly … I’d love to get my hands on copies of your stories!

Thanks Rick for the reintroduction. It’s nice to have more writers with whom to share! (I hope, anyhow!)
